Key notes: Golden Isles Speedway hosts the Coastal Clash, a 50-lap, $7,000-to-win special for Ultimate Southeast Series competitors. … The two-day event began when Mark Whitener led all 30 laps of Friday’s $3,000 opener, earning his second straight Ultimate Southeast victory — Sept. 6 Casey Barrow Memorial at Georgia’s Screven Motor Speedway, worth $10,098. Whitener now has seven special event wins at Golden Isles going back to 2015, earning more than $38,000 over that span. … It was the first series race at Golden Isles since July 5, 2015, when Chris Ferguson of Mount Holly, N.C., won $10,000, but he is competing this weekend at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway. … Friday’s runner up Trey Mills of St. Augustine, Fla., is fresh off a $20,000 Cotton Pickin’ win in Comp Cams Series action at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss. … Points leader Brent Robinson of Smithfield, Va., seeks his first series win of the season after rounding out the top five in Friday’s opener. … Factory stocks, three-quarter modifieds and two divisions of Crown Vics are on the undercard. … Pits open at 2 p.m. and grandstands open at 5 with hot laps at 7.
