Key notes: The MARS Late Model Championship Series concludes its doubleheader weekend with Saturday’s 50-lap, $5,000-to-win 70th annual Illinois State Championship at Peoria Speedway. … Tanner English of Benton, Ky., slid by points leader Jason Feger and led the final seven laps to win Friday’s $10,000 opener at Brownstown (Ill.) Bullring. It was his 17th career MARS victory. … Reigning series champ, Feger, of Bloomington, Ill., leads Ryan Unzicker by 151 points entering Saturday’s action. … Unzicker, of El Paso, Ill., has three straight Garry Swibold Memorial victories at Peoria, including April’s $5,098 payday, along with 2022’s Illinois State Championship, worth $7,500. … Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill., won last year’s $5,000 Illinois State Championship event in DIRTcar Super Late Model competition. … Modifieds, B-mods, hornets and kids mods are on the undercard. … Pits open at 3:30 p.m. and grandstands open at 4 with hot laps at 5:30. … Watch live on FloRacing.
