Jason Feger won his second straight $10,000 Summer Nationals victory.
What won the race: Winning back-to-back series races for the first time in 13 years, points leader Jason Feger dominated Saturday's 40-lapper at Highland Speedway for a $10,000 DIRTcar Summer Nationals payday. Feger, who led by two-second margins much of the race, captured his tour-leading fourth victory in finishing 1.431 seconds ahead of runner-up Shannon Babb.
Quotable: "This place has been really good to me over the years," Feger said. "We've won a lot of races here and awesome fans here, as always, gotta thank these fans for coming out and supporting us. It's a fun little bullring. I love these bullrings I gotta thank my crew for busting their butts (and) all my sponsors."
Key notes: Feger notched his fourth series victory at Highland (2015, '20 and '24). ... Feger's triumph matched last season's series-best four victories and gave him 34 career tour victories, including Friday's $10,000 payday at Farmer City Raceway. ... Seventh-starting Brandon Sheppard finished third, taking the spot late from Garrett Alberson. ... Rodney Melvin started outside the front row but slipped from contention when he got too high in turn two on an early restart; he ended up seventh. ... Three cautions slowed the 40-lapper, the first on the fifth lap for Dillon McCowan's turn-one spin (McCowan rallied back to 10th). ... Chad Zobrist broke on the 13th lap. ... The third and final caution appeared on the 38th lap for Clay Stuckey's turn-one spin. ... In prelims, Thomas Hunziker went for a wild ride down the frontsrtrech in the fourth heat, leaving the ground with the front of his car nosing down into the track and the bottom resting up against the catchfence. Hunziker was OK. ... Matt Bailey and Drew Armstrong tangled in the first heat, sending Bailey climbing the fronstretch wall and nearly getting upside down, drawing a 10-minute red flag. Bailey was OK but walked the length of the frontstretch to kick the hood and air cleaner of Armstrong's car.
On the move: Consolation winner Tyler Erb of New Waverly, Texas, started 17th and finished fifth.
Winner's sponsors: Feger’s Longhorn Chassis has a Clements Racing Engine with sponsorship from Titan Industries, SC Online Sales, Hoker Trucking, The Big Cheese MM, Out-Pace Racing Products, CorrosionX, Multi Fire Wires, RemTek Enterprises, RLM Enterprises, Cheap Cars, FK Rod Ends, Keyser Manufacturing, Speedwerx, Go Lithium Battery, Bilstein Shocks, Schaeffer’s Racing Oil, Wehrs Machine, VP Racing Fuels, Griffin Sign Shop and Limelight Graphics.

Tyler Millwood improved a spot to finish third, while second-starting Dillon McCowan held on for the fourth and final transfer position into Saturday’s 40-lap main event. The race’s opening incident was a 10-minute red flag after Matt Bailey and Drew Armstrong made contact, sending Bailey climbing the fronstretch wall and nearly getting upside down into the first turn. Bailey was OK but walked the length of the fronstretch to voice displeasure with Armstrong, kicking the No. 01a on its hood and air cleaner; Bailey was initially physically restrained by track officials, to be kept from running at Armstrong's sitting car. … Daryn Klein fired off from the outside pole and commanded the entire distance of the second heat, taking the checkers 1.252 seconds ahead of polesitter Brandon Sheppard. Bob Gardner started and finished third, while sixth-starting Carson Brown claimed the fourth and final transfer spot into the $10,000-to-win feature. … Rodney Melvin cruised to a flag-to-flag victory by 1.427 seconds over second-starting Kyle Bronson, with third-starting Mark Whitener holding serve and fifth-starting Brenden Smith completing the top-four finishers. … Second-starting Jason Feger led the final seven laps to win the fourth and final heat race by 2.332 seconds over third-starting Chad Zobrist. Pole-starting Christian Hanger slipped to third, with Michael Kloos holding serve in fourth. Thomas Hunziker went for a wild ride down the frontsrtrech on the fourth lap, leaving the ground, with the front of his car nosing into the ground and the bottom resting against the catch fence.
