What won the race: Leading the last half of the race, Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., captured his third straight World 50 at Paducah International Raceway on the MARS DIRTcar Series. Feger, who retained his fourth starting position after first-lap flat tire, took over when Paducah first-timer Ryan Gustin broke on lap 27. Polesitter Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., led the first seven laps and ended up seventh.
Key notes: Feger has seven career MARS victories ... Brandon Sheppard slowed for a lap-43 yellow. ... Jason Riggs spun out of fifth on the 13th lap. ... Lee Thomason spun for a lap-six yellow and again on lap 17. ... Feger got a flat tire in a scramble on the first lap; he got his spot back. ... Rodney Melvin scratched from the feature lineup. ... No polesitter won a heat race. ... PIR hosted the first race of a MARS weekend doubleheader. ... The series is made 12th trip to the western Kentucky oval. ... The Chris Smith Memorial is typically held during the UMP DIRTcar Summernationals, but it was merged with the USA World 50 because of a rainout. ... Besides the 21 Late Models, nine Crate Late Models and seven modifieds were also in action.
On the move: Billy Moyer started ninth and finished third; Jeff Roth started 20th and finished ninth.
Winner's sponsors: Feger's Hustler Race Car is powered by a Rhyne Engine and sponsored by Allstar Performance, Cheap Cars, Griffin Sign Shop, Pro Tire, Champion Spark Plugs, Renegade Fuels, Titan Steel and Wehrs Machine and Racing Products.
