Hedgecock seeking SAS repeat from pole at I-75
Key notes: The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series concludes its doubleheader weekend with Saturday’s 40-lap, $5,000-to-win return to I-75 Raceway. … The event was originally scheduled for July 3 before getting pushed to Saturday because of rain. … Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga., topped Thursday’s third annual Scott Bloomquist Scorcher at nearby Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn., for a $12,018 payday. McDowell, who earned $5,053 in April’s Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals visit to I-75, is not expected to compete. … Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn., topped the most recent Southern All Stars stop at I-75, collecting $10,053 last Oct. 25. Hedgecock has 14 major wins since 2018 at his home track, combining to collect more than $80,000 over that span. … Garrett Smith of Madison, Ga., grabbed a $5,000 Southern All Stars victory there last July 3. … Points leader Tucker Anderson of Blairsville, Ga., chases his fourth series win of the season.
