Eli Ross takes the checkers for a $3,000 victory at Nevada.
What won the race: Fending off early challenges from fellow front-row starter Tyler Wolff, Eli Ross of Muskogee, Okla., led all 30 laps from the pole in Saturday's $3,000 Ron Bolin Sr. Memorial to capture his debut at Nevada Speedway. Ross pulled away late and beat Wolff by 3.206 seconds for his fifth Nutrien Ag Solutions Revival Super Dirt Series victory of the season and seventh of his career.
Quotable: “I’ve never been here before. I watched one video, it was about 30 seconds of (a past race), so I should’ve done a little more,” Ross joked. “Our first hot-lap session was really good, we were quick. Then the rain came, but the track was gonna be the same, I felt like. We qualified good, did the dash good, everything hit like it should’ve. I just want to thank all my sponsors, my dad and my mom.”
Key notes: Ross raced to his eighth overall feature win of the season, adding to three wins on the Ross Foundation Sooner Late Model Series. ... His seventh career Revival Series victory moves him into first on the third-year tour's all-time list, breaking a tie with Cade Dillard and two-time champ Kylan Garner. ... Ross secured his second win in as many nights after leading all 25 laps of Friday's weekend opener at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Mo.; he now leads all drivers with five series wins at this point in the season. ... Sixth-starting Sawyer Crigler slipped by Tyler Wolff for second on lap 19, but could never cut into Ross's two-second advantage; Wolff, who nearly led laps two and three, coming within fractions of a second of Ross, regained the runner-up spot with an outside move around Crigler with a handful of laps remaining. ... Dusty Leonard improved eight positions and rounded out the top-10 finishers. ... The race was slowed three times, the first when Jon Binning and Travis Wolf tangled in turn four on the fifth lap. ... Tenth-running Mark Daye spun on lap 13 with Joe Walkenhorst spinning to avoid contact; Daye retired. ... Kayden Clatt and Jeff Roth were eliminated on a lap-13 restart attempt that collected Jerrett Bransom and John Rowland; Bransom rallied to finish 13th. ... The event honored Ron Bolin Sr., of Fort Scott, Kan., a Nevada Speedway competitor who amassed more than 400 career feature victories and 20 track championships in the Ozarks area aboard his distinct No. Xjr entry. Bolin died on May 20, 2021, at the age of 67. ... The 30-lap feature lasted nearly 18 minutes with 14 starters completing the distance. ... Charlie Cole scratched after hot laps.
On the move: Brandon Conkwright of Wamego, Kan., started 12th and finished fourth.
