What won the race: Inheriting the point when race-long leader Caiden Black slowed to draw a caution on lap 22, fourth-starting Jerry Bowersock of Wapakoneta, Ohio, led the final nine laps in winning Saturday's 30-lap Mother's Day Shootout at Atomic Speedway. Bowersock beat R.J. Conley by 0.840 of a second for the $5,000 payday and his first career Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series victory.

Speedway on Sept. 2, 2023, worth $2,000. ... Youngster Caiden Black, winner of April 11's $5,000 season opener at Atomic, led the opening 21 laps before slowing with an apparent flat tire and drawing the race's second caution; Black tagged the field but could only recover to a 13th-place finish. ... Bowersock's victory makes it three straight first-time Iron-Man winners, including Black and Drake Troutman, who won May 3 at West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, W.Va. ... Sixth-starting R.J. Conley took second from Freddie Carpenter on a lap-26 restart before finishing less than a second behind Bowersock. ... Freddie, who recently dropped off the Lucas Oil tour, faded to fourth after his son, Tyler Carpenter, slipped by him for third on the 28th lap. Freddie held the second spot for the opening 14 circuits and laps 22-25 before settling for fourth. ... Seth Daniels climbed five spots for a ninth-place result. ... Besides the lap-22 caution for Black's woes, the race was slowed by two other cautions, including on lap 11 when ninth-running Kirk Phillips retired along with Matt Melvin. ... Michael LeFevers retired under the lap-22 caution. ... Tenth-running Miles Cook II slowed for the final stoppage on lap 26 before continuing to finish 16th, the final starter running at the finish. ... The 30-lap Mother's Day Shootout lasted 18 minutes.
On the move: Tyler Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.Va., started eighth and finished third.
