Hughes paced 36 of the 40 circuits to earn $3,000 for his third career MSCCS victory and his first since securing back-to-back wins on May 14-15, 2021, at Hattiesburg Speedway and Jackson Motor Speedway.
Key notes: Hughes recorded his second triumph of the season; his previous win came on March 2 in Southern All Star action at East Alabama Motor Speedway. ... The second-starting Rickman, of Columbus, Miss., slipped past Hughes to lead laps 4-6 before giving way to the eventual winner and fading in the closing laps to finish fourth. ... Eleventh-starting Brandon Carpenter took advantage of a lap-38 restart to grab the runner-up spot. ... Hunter Lewis improved three positions and completed the podium. ... Jamey Boland gained 10 spots and finished fifth. ... Apparent fifth- and seventh-place finishers, Neil Baggett and Chad Thrash, were disqualified. ... Trey Mills ran as high as third in the early stages before slowing from seventh to bring out the race's first yellow flag on lap 20. The teenager was unable to continue and was credited with 22nd. ... The feature was slowed by two separate incidents and lasted 19 minutes, with 17 drivers completing the distance and 19 running at the finish.
On the move: Brandon Carpenter of Coldwater, Miss., started 11th and finished second.
