What won the race: Rick Eckert of York, Pa., launched from the outside front row and led all 40 laps to win Saturday's $7,000 Mid-Atlantic feature at Georgetown Speedway. Eckert captured his second straight Mid-Atlantic triumph and his second victory of the season at Georgetown after topping August's $3,500 unsanctioned event.
Quotable: “I love coming here and taking Kenny and Brett’s money, it’s awesome,” Eckert joked. “There was a great field of cars and I redrew the two, which was a big plus. Starting outside pole here is an advantage for sure, that’s why I picked the outside on every restart. I knew Amanda (Robinson) is tough at this place and if she raced more, she would be even harder to beat; she just don’t get to race as much as she used to and she’s a great girl. There was seven or eight cars here that easily could’ve won this race and I was just the fortunate one that got to do it.”
Key notes: Lucas Oil Series regular Ross Robinson moved into the runner-up spot on lap 38 and finished a distant 4.241 seconds back at his home track. ... Thirteenth-starting Shaun Jones made a bold fifth-to-second move on the lap-32 restart before settling for third after being overtaken by Robinson in the closing laps. ... Amanda Robinson ran as high as second in the early stages before slipping to finish fourth. ... Jim Yoder improved three positions and finished sixth. ... Dan Stone gained four spots and finished seventh. ... Trevor Collins overcame a solo-spin that drew the race's fourth and final caution on lap 31 and completed the top 10. ... After winning Georgetown's $5,000 Camp Barnes Benefit race on Oct. 1, Kyle Hardy slowed from fifth with a flat right-front on lap 30 and called it a night. ... Twelfth-running Cory Lawler stopped to bring out the race's second stoppage on lap 28 before pulling off. ... Donald Lingo Jr. slowed from third to bring out the race's first yellow on lap 21; Lingo was unable to continue. ... Saturday's feature lasted 23 minutes, with seven competitors completing 40 laps and 13 running at the finish.
On the move: Jamie Lathroum of Mechanicsville, Md., started 16th and finished eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Eckert’s Rocket Chassis is powered by a Jay Dickens Racing Engine and sponsored by PPC Lubricants, Drydene, S.L. Shenberger Dump Truck Service, Firehouse Subs, Suburban Bowlerama, Allstar Performance, M&M Painting & Construction and All About Wraps.
