Gregg Satterlee picked up the big paycheck at Hagerstown.
What won the race: Taking the lead from Drake Troutman, Gregg Satterlee of Indiana, Pa., led the final six circuits Sunday at Hagerstown Speedway to score his first Appalachian Mountain Speedweek victory of the season, earning $4,000. Satterlee beat Kyle Hardy of Stephens City, Va., by 2.702 seconds.
Quotable: “Thanks to everyone who I was racing with for racing smart, I know on that restart we were three-wide going into turn three there,” Satterlee said. “I knew someone needed to not lift, to try to get the lead and I know Drake (Troutman), he gasses pretty hard and I know Kyle (Hardy), he’s not afraid to sail it in there, but thankfully we made it through that corner. I don’t know what it looked like from out here, but when we went into three, I thought this could go really bad, but luckily it worked out.”
Key notes: Drake Troutman of Hyndman, Pa., led laps 5-29 and finished third; he won the modified event on the undercard. ... Pole-starting Tyler Emory of King George, Va., paced the opening four laps but finished fourth; he leads the miniseries by 32 points over Gregg Satterlee ahead of Tuesday's fourth-round race at Path Valley (Pa.) Speedway. ... Austin Berry of Mifflin, Pa., dropped from fourth in the standings, 64 points behind, to 11th — 189 points behind — after failing to qualify for the main event; Berry's demise on Sunday began when tangling with Brian Booze for the third and final transfer in the fourth heat race. ... Sunday's third round Appalachian Mountain Speedweek event was the ninth-ever miniseries event at the Hagerstown, Md., oval and the first since 2017. ... Satterlee is the third winner in as many races on the revived Speedweek. ... Friday's winner Jason Covert (Clinton County Speedway in Mill Hall, Pa.) didn't make Hagerstown's feature lineup and Saturday's winner Michael Norris (Pennsylvania's Port Royal Speedway) didn't enter at Hagerstown. ... Two cautions (lap seven for Brian Booze; lap 29 for Bryan Bernheisel) slowed the main event that lasted 20 minutes. ... Nineteen starters finished on the lead lap.
On the move: Dylan Yoder of Middleburg, Pa., started 13th and finished fifth.
