What won the race: R.J. Conley of Wheelersburg, W.Va., inherited Saturday’s Renegades of Dirt Late Model tour win at Atomic Speedway when apparent winner Camaron Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., failed a postrace deck height check. Conley crossed the finish line in second place, one full second ahead of Jacob Hawkins of Fairmont, W.Va., who was elevated to second place.
Key notes: On his Facebook page, Marlar, who started seventh, contended that there was no “droop rule” in effect. Series rules on the tour’s website for 2021 (no rules were dated for 2022) said Lucas Oil Late Model Series weight/body rules apply. … The finale of the second annual Jackie Boggs Memorial weekend was scheduled to pay $14,000-to-win, but series officials trimmed the purse to $4,000 Saturday before action got underway. … Four drivers, Devin Moran, Jared Hawkins, Kenneth Howell and Adam Stricker, elected to withdraw. ... It was R.J. Conley’s sixth victory and 15th top-five of the season. … Dash winner and polesitter Tyler Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.Va., finished third. … Zack Dohm of Cross Lanes, W.Va., finished seventh after winning Friday's opener. ... Conley finished second on Friday. … It was the inaugural visit to Atomic for the second-year tour, after all previously scheduled events were cancelled or postponed. … Dave Hess Jr. of Waterford, Pa., won last year’s inaugural Jackie Boggs Memorial event. … It was the tour’s season finale.
On the move: Jerry Bowersock of Wapakoneta, Ohio, started 21st and finished 12th.
Winner's sponsors: Conley’s Rocket Chassis is powered by a Draime Racing Engine and sponsored by Poske’s Performance Parts, Conley River Terminal, Conley Trucking and Shain Custom Decals.
