Rainy week cancels Knoxville Nationals
A wet week and forecasts for a rainy weekend forced officials to cancel the 22nd running of Thursday-Saturday's Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series announced today.
The early decision was made to avoid unnecessary travel costs for competitors and fans for the event, which won’t be run for the first time since Covid precautions cancelled 2020’s event. Knoxville will return to next season’s Lucas Oil schedule on Sept. 16-18, 2027.
All tickets and camping fees will be refunded via the Knoxville Raceway account and can be used toward next year’s event. For refunds, call the track ticket office at (641) 842-5431.
Among other recent schedule changes for Dirt Late Model-style tours:
Slingin' Dirt: Friday and Saturday's Slingin' Dirt Late Model Series events in Kentucky at Junction City's Ponderosa Speedway and Mount Vernon's Rockcastle Speedway have been cancelled.
SAS: Hidden Hollow Speedway in Colson, Ky., cancelled Friday’s Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series event.
OVS: The Burlile Ohio Valley Late Model Dirt Series has added a $1,200-to-win event Oct. 3 at 35 Raceway Park in Frankfort, Ohio.
