Promotional change coming at Selinsgrove
Selinsgrove (Pa.) Speedway second-year promoters Colin Rice, Paula Schick and Jenna Mowery are stepping away from the 80-year-old track at season’s end after failing to reach an agreement to extend a lease with the Selinsgrove Fair Board, the Snyder County Dirt Management Group announced Monday.
The promoters asked the fair board to continue a year-by-year lease, but the fair board required a three-year lease, according to the promoters.
In the Daily Item, the local newspaper, Fair Board President Matt Keller said there “hasn’t been a problem” with promoters but the board wanted “stabilization” at the half-mile track. Keller said two people he wouldn’t name have expressed interest in signing a three-year deal to promote the track when the current lease ends in December.
Putting a greater focus on the Super Late Model division, Rice, Schick and Mowery took over operations late in 2024 after the previous promoters faced legal issues over failure to pay vendors.
The track boosted the purse of Super Late Model events to $5,000-to-win and this season has drawn 60 entrants to division events with points leader Gregg Satterlee of Indiana, Pa., grabbing six victories.
In a statement, promoters “plan to give it our all for these last three months as we have a lot of big racing planned to end the season.”
Super Late Model races are scheduled for Aug. 7, Aug. 21 and Sept. 6’s Paul Long Memorial with a Sept. 19 visit for Jay's Automotive United Late Model Series. Remaining Limited Late Model dates are Aug. 7, Sept. 6 and Sept. 19.
