Triple B adds Georgian to Super team

Triple B Motorsports has Cody Overton of Thomson, Ga., to the team to compete in Super Late Model competition, the James Trantina III-owned team announced this morning. The 28-year-old is expected to make his debut in a No. 97 Clements-powered Longhorn on June 22 in World of Outlaws Late Model Series action at Ogilvie (Minn.) Raceway.

The 40year-old Trantina of St. Joseph, Minn., who operates Collins Brothers Towing among sprawling racing interests that includes the ownership of three Minnesota dirt tracks, said he’s “really excited to have a gasser like him join our team. I’ve been talking to a few people to add a second driver on the Super Late Model program and just couldn’t make a deal until now. I wanted someone with experience and someone that will fit with our operation. Cody checks all the boxes and is ready to get back at it.”

Overton, who ran the last two WoO seasons on a Dave Steine-owned team with a better finish of eighth in points in 2025, rejoins the Super Late Model ranks after a turbulent beginning to 2026 that saw his attempts to operate a self-owned team backed by Maryland’s Bruce Kane and Texan Allen Murray fade away.

“James has just a true blessing, man. He is awesome,” said Overton, whose last national touring action came as a substitute driver for Iowa’s Skyline Motorsports during Georgia-Florida Speedweeks in March. “He helps so many people and I am just so thankful that he picked me. He has always been there for me and he just gives and gives. It’s just awesome to be able to get to do it with him for sure.”

Joining Triple B Super Late Model driver Dan Ebert of Lake Shore, Minn., who competes on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Overton’s car will be sponsored by Collins Brothers Towing, M&M Painting & Construction, Granite Hauling & Grading, M&S Concrete, Budweiser, Tribble Electric, S&S Fishing & Rental, Boswell Oil, Kicklighter Company among others.

Overton has four 2026 victories, including Sunday’s Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series triumph at Casino Speedway in Watertown, S.D., as a substitute driver for Ward Motprsports. The other three came in Crate Late Model competition. His last open-competition engine victory was July 9, 2025, at Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway on the DIRTcar Summer Nationals.
