Viking's WCS honors Hinkemeyer
May 16’s Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series event at Viking Speedway will honor St. Cloud, Minn., racer Jeff Hinkemeyer, who died April 26 from lung cancer.
The 67-year-old Hinkemeyer considered the Alexandria, Minn., oval his home track and was an eight-time champion during a career of more than 200 Late Model victories and 21 track titles. He’s also a member of the track’s Hall of Fame.
The purse-boosted event will pay $4,013 (in honor of Hinkemeyer’s No. 4F race cars later in his career and his original No. 13 entries).
“The No. 4F Late Model is one of the most iconic cars to ever circle the high flyin’ half mile,” Viking promoter Jeff Crouse said,” therefore the Viking Speedway board of directors and Hall of Fame members are honored to be able to hold the Jeff Hinkemeyer Memorial at Viking.”
Winning Edge Graphics is sponsoring the event along with Cory Oberg Real Estate, FYE Motorsports Promotions and Joe Provo Racewear.
