World 100 a nominee for best auto race
Eldora Speedway’s World 100 has been selected as a nominee for the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards in the Best Motorsports Race category.
Dirt Late Model racing’s biggest event — first contested in 1971 at the half-mile oval in Rossburg, Ohio founded by Earl Baltes — joins some of the most prestigious events in American motorsports, including the Daytona 500, Indianapolis 500, Coca-Cola 600, Rolex 24 at Daytona and Formula 1's Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The World 100 isn’t the only dirt race among the nominees either. The Knoxville Nationals — sanctioned by the World of Outlaws — and the Chili Bowl Nationals, midget racing’s Super Bowl event held annually in Tulsa, Okla., are also in the running.
Voting is conducted via USA Today’s 10Best platform, where readers determine the final rankings through a public vote that remains open until April 27 at 11:59 a.m. EDT.
Participants must be at least 18 years old and are limited to one vote per person a day. Results will be announced May 6, with the top 10 nominees named Readers’ Choice winners and featured on the USA Today 10Best website.
