Donald McIntosh and Maysville, Ga.-based Coltman Farms Racing have parted ways, the Dawsonville, Ga., driver confirmed today to DirtonDirt, ending a short-lived partnership that lasted five races through last month’s Volusia Speedway Park’s Sunshine Nationals on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.

The 32-year-old McIntosh said the decision was his, notifying team owner Brett Coltman of his departure Monday evening.

“Really, truthfully, it just wasn’t a good fit,” McIntosh said. “Overall, he has great equipment. He’s got the right idea. … Really, it just wasn’t a good fit between the two of us. Trying to keep up wasn’t going to be easy. Truthfully, that’s it. … We showed speed early. It’s just not the right fit.”

Coltman explained in an eight-minute video posted on Facebook that “Donald and I have decided we’re still good friends.”

“We’ll take what’s happened and we’ll look for ways to make it better for the next guy,” Coltman said as part of his video posted to Facebook on Tuesday.

Although he owns two turnkey open-competition race engines, McIntosh, says he has “no clue” what’s next for him in terms of ride opportunities. McIntosh put forth best finishes of 13th and 14th at last month’s Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., in his second weekend for the Coltman team after earning Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series top rookie honors with Billy Hicks Racing last year. McIntosh made his debut for the Coltman team at last year's Gateway Dirt Nationals.

As for Coltman Farms Racing, the team recently added developmental driver Luke Morey of Denver, N.C.., a deal announced Jan. 27. No immediate plans have been announced regarding whether the team will continue fielding a national touring entry in 2026. Coltman Farms Racing finished ninth in last year’s World of Outlaws standings with Benton, Ky.’s Tanner English.
