Overton confirms Lucas Oil action
Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga., will chase the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with Riggs Motorsports this season, the team announced this evening.
While the news was largely expected, Overton and his Scott Riggs-owned operation had refrained from revealing their schedule plans for 2026 since announcing in late November that they were remaining paired for a second straight season but without the Longhorn Factory Team label.
Overton, 34, will be a Lucas Oil Series regular for the third time in his career. A 17-time winner on the circuit, he finished sixth with three victories in the 2023 points standings driving for Wells Motorsports and placed seventh with one triumph last year piloting the Longhorn house car for Riggs Motorsports. His national touring experience also includes the 2015-16 campaigns with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.
The Lucas Oil schedule does not kick off until Feb. 19 at All-Tech Raceway in Ellisville, Fla., but Overton began his 2026 season last weekend in the WoO-sanctioned Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. He logged finishes of 12th, 13th and eighth in the tripleheader.
