WoO loses Deer Creek's Gopher 50 to rain
With thunderstorms bringing heavy rain to Spring Valley, Minn., on Saturday morning and into the afternoon, officials from the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series and Deer Creek Speedway cancelled the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 finale.
The $50,000-to-win event won't be rescheduled but the WoO tour will return to the 3/8-mile track for the 2026 Gopher 50.
Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., and Nick Hoffman of Mooresville, N.C., won the 30-lap preliminary features contested on Thursday and Friday and were among 16 drivers already locked into the 75-lap headliner and scheduled to compete in a pair of dashes on Saturday to set the starting lineup.
The WoO circuit returns to action with July 11-12’s Battle at the Border at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, with $12,000- and $15,000-to-win programs.
Correction: Fixes winning purses for Sharon event.
