Fans have a rare opportunity to glimpse Dirt Late Model superstar Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., away from the track — and hear about his journey from Georgia’s red clay ovals to a historic $2 million season in 2022 — in a new FloRacing short film released Friday.

“Dirty Dollars: Jonathan Davenport” provides a behind-the-scenes look at the real-life struggles experienced by Davenport and his wife, Rachel, during the 39-year-old driver’s rise to the top of the sport. It's available on-demand to FloRacing and DirtonDirt.com subscribers.

FloRacing’s Matthew Dillner visited Davenport at his Dirty Dollar ranch and at the track to conduct interviews for the 40-minute film that gives viewers an entirely fresh look into one of the country’s best racers.

“This is gonna give people that little peak into who J.D. is that I got when I saw Dale Earnhardt fishing or bailing hay in those television pieces years ago,” Dillner said. “That forever stuck with me. Maybe that same experience will happen to somebody watching this. This kind of story shows what I call the ‘Everyman,’ when you see a driver out of his element in his real life and he becomes identifiable.

“And when you see this, you’ll see there’s nothing that separates Jonathan from the local farmer except that the dude goes out there in his ‘real’ job and kicks ass in a race car.”

Davenport himself gave the film his seal of approval: “FloRacing did a great turning some of my life stories into something interesting.”
