World of Outlaws unveil 2023 schedule

The World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series on Thursday announced its 2023 schedule, featuring more than $3 million in purse money spread through 53 events at 30 venues, including first-time visits to three tracks. Eight other tracks rejoin the tour after taking a hiatus. | 2023 WoO schedule

“We’ve taken the schedule and built it in a way that benefits our drivers and fans,” said newly appointed series director Steve Francis. “Along with adding several new venues, we increased the purses at several events, creating a platform for great racing all season.”

The series is again highlighted by a bevy of high-paying events, including the $50,000-to-win Prairie Dirt Classic July 28-29 at Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway. The PDC will have a $57,000 purse increase, which includes lap money worth $50,000 if one driver can lead every lap of the 100-lap affair. Other $50,000-to-win specials include the tour’s NASCAR weekend finale at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala., on April 22; the Dairyland Showdown at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis., on May 6; and the USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., on Aug. 5.

Events paying $25,000 or more to win include the Illini 100 at Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway; weekend finales at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio; 81 Speedway in Wichita, Kansas; and the Quad City 150 in Davenport, Iowa; and the season finale at the Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C.

Hosting the series for the first time will be Talladega Short Track; I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tenn.; and Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, Neb. Tracks absent in recent years but rejoining the series are 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn.; Stateline Speedway in Busti, N.Y.; Paducah (Ky.) International Raceway; Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky.; Mason City (Iowa) Motor Speedway; Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D.; Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway; and 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. Brownstown (16 years) and 34 Raceway (34 years) return to the WoO schedule after a lengthy hiatus.

For the second year in a row, the series will get a head start on Georgia-Florida Speedweeks with a three-race stint at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. The Sunshine Nationals kick off the WoO season with a pair of $8,000-to-win events Jan. 19-20 and wrap up with a $20,000 finale on Jan. 21. The series returns to Florida three weeks later with its traditional DIRTcar Nationals appearance at Volusia Feb. 16-18 with a pair of $12,000 events followed by a $20,000-to-win race to cap Speedweeks.

Another season highlight includes giving drivers two cracks at Fairbury, as the tour will visit the Illinois oval for July’s Prairie Dirt Classic as well as a one-day show on Oct. 7. Six events in 2023 will have at least $200,000 in total prize money throughout the weekend, including the 17th annual World Finals which will feature a pair of $15,000-to-win events and the $25,000-to-win season finale.
