Recovering from a skull fracture, broken cheekbone and other injuries sustained in highway transporter wreck, champion modified racer and part-time Late Model pilot Nick Hoffman of Mooresville, N.C., on Saturday left the intensive care unit at a Kentucky hospital, according to reports from his sister Ashly Burnett.

The 30-year Hoffman and his father Darrell Hoffman, who suffered a broken vertebrae in the early Friday morning accident, shared a hospital room while recovering from their injuries. Crew member Mason Beadles suffered less serious injuries in the accident as the team was en route to Illinois from North Carolina for Labor Day weekend competition.

The racing community has rallied with a fundraiser to assist Nick Hoffman Racing with a Go Fund Me account. Collective Threads is selling T-shirts with proceeds going to the family and KBC Graphix is selling decals with proceeds going to the family.
