WWS, Penske post $300,000 sweep bonus
Penske Racing Shocks has posted an event-record $300,000 bonus for any driver that can sweep six Super Late Model features in January's 16th annual Wild West Shootout at FK Rod Ends-sponsored Vado (N.M.) Speedway Park, event promoters announced today.
A driver winning every feature between Jan. 8-16 would leave New Mexico with $356,000 through the Penske Racing Shocks $300,000 Paydirt Jackpot, $53,000 in purse earnings and $3,000 as the miniseries champion.
"One lucky team could really make their entire year before they even get started," said Aaron Lambert, general manager of Penske Racing Shocks. "Every year more and more of the top drivers make their way out to the Wild West Shootout, and we are really hoping to see one of them break the record and capture this huge payday."
The bonus program also pays $100,000 for a driver winning five features or $25,000 for winning four features.
Online sales of single and multiday tickets have opened for the Southwest’s popular miniseries, which has shifted to New Mexico after running at Arizona Speedway near Phoenix the past four Januarys. Three-program events are scheduled for Jan. 8-9, 12, 14-16 at Vado with Super Late Models, modifieds and X-mods on the card. Practices are scheduled for Jan. 7 and 11.
