Rain spoils MLRA’s Spring Nationals

A rainy forecast forced Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association to cancel the eighth annual MLRA Spring Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. The weekend — halted for the fourth consecutive year by weather or the pandemic — won't be rescheduled.

With the $5,000- and $10,000-to-win races at Wheatland scrapped, MLRA competitors are now scheduled to open the season with five consecutive nights of racing beginning Tuesday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. Visit mlraracing.com for full details.

Among other weekend special events affected by weather:

MSCCS: Saturday's Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series event has been removed from Saturday's schedule at Revolution Park in Monroe, La., but the track plans to run a regular event, weather permitting, including $2,000-to-win for Super Late Models.

Cash Money: The Dirt Track Bank Cash Money Super Dirt Series rained out Friday at Humboldt (Kan.) Speedway and Saturday at Springfield (Mo.) Raceway; Springfield's race was made up Sunday.

ULMS South: Friday's Zimmer's United Late Model Series event at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., was rained out; no makeup date was immediately announced.

Spring Nationals: Saturday's event on the Schaefer's-sponsored tour at the Sweetwater, Tenn., oval was rained out and rescheduled for April 16. Because the makeup is on a Friday instead of Saturday, the event will now pay $5,053-to-win.

Southern All Stars: Saturday's series event at Thunderhill Raceway Park was cancelled; the Summertown, Tenn., track plans to run a regular-season event, weather permitting.

MARS: Saturday's MARS Racing Series event was postponed with no immediate makeup date announced.

Tri-State: Friday and Saturday's Repairable Vehicles.com Tri-State Series events at Park Jefferson (S.D.) International Speedway were rained out with no makeup dates announced.

Hoker Trucking: The season-opening Iowa events on the Hoker Trucking Series at Davenport Speedway (Thursday) and Donnellson's Lee County Speedway (Friday) were rained out.

Correction: Fixes makeup date for Springfield's Cash Money tour event.
