Lucas Oil postpones races for next 30 days

Postponing its next four events in response to the coronavirus pandemic, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on Monday evening shuffled its early season schedule. | Lucas Oil schedule

The national tour postponed $12,000-to-win events scheduled for the next 30 days and pledged to "closely monitor the situation in coordination with federal, state, local, and public health officials, along with information that is based on guidelines from the CDC," according to a series release.

Along with virtually every event in professional and major collegiate sports, Dirt Late Model races have been cancelled or postponed with recommendations from Center of the Disease Control and Prevention and others to limit crowd sizes to stem the spread of Covid-19 during the National State Emergency.

The national tour's March 20-21 races at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio, and Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway have been rescheduled for May 8-9 while the April 3-4 events at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn., and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala., were rescheduled for June 26-27.

The series tentatively plans to resume its original schedule with April 18-19 events at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway and Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway.
