Purse boost, lap bonuses for Silver Dollar

heathlawsonphotos.com

GREENWOOD, Neb. — The purse for next season's 10th annual Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals in 2020 at I-80 Speedway will be increased by $53,000 and boast $10,000 in lap-leader bonuses, promoter Joe Kosiski announced during Saturday’s intermission of the ninth version of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned event.

While next season's winner’s prize Silver Dollar Nationals will remain $53,000 (matching Kosiski’s longtime No. 53 car number during his driving career), Kosiski said he’s joining forces with a sponsor to pump up the payoff for 53 other positions — every feature and non-qualifiers’ race spot — by $1,000 to push the event's total purse to more than $250,000. Every starter will earn at least $3,000 (up from $2,000 in 2019) and last place in the non-qualifiers’ race will pay $1,400 (up from $400 in ’19).

In addition, the feature distance will be lengthened from its traditional 80 laps to 101 circuits to allow him to offer 10 bonuses of $1,000 to the leaders of laps ending in zero (10, 20, 30 and so on), Kosiski said. The bonuses provide an opportunity for a $63,000 flag-to-flag victory.

Despite the purse changes, ticket prices will remain the same, Kosiski said.
