July 11, 2010, 1:53 pm
From series reports

LAVONIA, Ga. (July 10) — Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga., led all the way at Lavonia Speedway on Saturday for his first triumph on the first-year Clash South Tour. Roberts, who got the jump on fellow front-row starter Brent Dixon of Elberton, Ga., at the outset, earned $3,500.

Dixon settled for second followed by Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., Jamie Oliver of Murphy, N.C., and Jim Rasey of Southington, Ohio.

Series points leader Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, N.C., broke a driveshaft on the frontstretch on the second lap and fell out with a 19th-place finish.

Among the cautions slowing the action was a first-lap collision among Gary Collins, Jay Sessoms and Richie Corley. The final caution came on the 18th lap for a Sean McGahee-Randy Harmon tangle.

Notes: Roberts drives a Randy Clary Engine-powered Victory Circle Chassis sponsored by Cushman Paint and Body and Starrette Trucking. ... Despite his 19th-place finish, Ricky Weeks holds a 172-point lead over Ohio’s Jim Rasey, who had a big-block modified victory four nights earlier. ... Next up for Clash South competitors is a return to Lavonia on Aug. 21.
