Roberts gets hometown win on O'Reilly SAS tour
TOCCOA, Ga. (Aug. 8) — Hometown driver Casey Roberts led all 50 laps at Toccoa Speedway for his first victory of the season on the O'Reilly Southern All Star Series. Roberts, who started outside the front row, earned $5,000 for the victory.
Third-starting Randy Weaver of Crossville, Tenn., took the second spot from polesitter Benji Cole of Canon, Ga., on the 41st lap but settled for the runner-up position while Cole finished third. Series points leader Ronny Lee Hollingsworth of Northport, Ala., advanced from sixth to fourth and 12th-starting David McCoy of Franklin, N.C. rounded out the top five at the 5/16-mile track.
Several cautions slowed the action, including when the first start was called back by a turn-four pileup that included more than a dozen competitors. Ethan Hunter got the worst of it and his car was towed off the track.

A "caution" appeared before the green flag was even close to waving. As the field was forming for the four-wide pace lap, David McCoy stopped suddenly on the frontstretch and was hit from behind by Chesley Dixon as other cars piled up behind them. Anthony Hill was out when his fan came through his radiator. ... Next up for the series is an Aug. 22 event at Magnolia Motor Speedway near Columbus, Miss., paying $5,000 to the winner.
