Smith outruns Weeks for back-to-back Clash wins
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. (May 23) — Taking command on the second lap at Travelers Rest Speedway, Jeff Smith of Dallas, N.C., raced to his second consecutive Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series victory on Saturday to earn $4,000. Smith started outside the front row and moved past polesitter Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, N.C., to take a lead he'd never give up.
Weeks, the five-time and reigning series champion, settled for second in the 40-lapper while Smith picked up his 19th career series victory and first back-to-back victories since 2006. Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga., was third while Frankie Beard of Hartwell, Ga., and Doug Sanders of Springwood, N.C., rounded out the top five.
Notes: Smith's Mike Menscer-owned Rocket Chassis has a Gaerte Engine and sponsorship from Star Leasing. ... Smith is second in all-time series victories, nine shy of Weeks. ...
