Sharon Speedway

Blair scores $4,000 All Stars victory at Sharon

August 14, 2011, 7:44 pm
From team reports

HARTFORD, Ohio (Aug. 13) – Defending All Star Champion Series champion Robbie Blair wasn’t a factor for the first half of Saturday night’s series race at Sharon Speedway, but he suddenly found himself in the third position when a mid-race accident took out three of the top five cars.

Blair of Centerville, Pa., made the most of the opportunity. He moved by Matt Lux of Franklin, Pa., for second and later overtook race-long leader Dave Hess, Jr. of Waterford, Pa., with two laps remaining in the 40-lap race on his way to scoring a $4,000 victory.

Blair was running sixth when fourth-running Russ King of Bristolville, Ohio, made a strong move to the bottom of the racetrack entering turn three on lap 22. King cleared third-running Donnie Moran of Dresden, Ohio, but his momentum carried him into second-running Jared Miley and caused all three cars to spin.

The incident moved Lux into the second position and Blair to third. Following the restart, Blair moved by Lux and Hess in the closing laps to score the victory. Hess held off Lux for the runner-up finish with Ryan Markham of Ashland, Ohio, fourth and John Garvin Jr. of Sarver, Pa., fifth.
