Berck catches Dickes late at Dawson County
LEXINGTON, Neb. (July 10) — Eighth-starting Kyle Berck of Marquette, Neb., overtook Travis Dickes of Madison, Neb., with two laps remaining Sunday at Dawson County Raceway for his third victory of the season on the Nebraska-based Super Late Model Racing Series.
Justin Zeitner of Lavista, Neb., led the first lap before Dickes took command, opening a big lead and lapping competitors after just four laps. But Berck worked his way to the front, taking second from Zeitner on the 16th lap and setting his sights on Dickes.
Berck made the winning pass in the waning laps for the $1,000 victory while Dickes settled for second ahead of Zeitner. Mike Wiarda of Aurora, Neb., and ninth-starting Steve Kempt of Shelton, Neb., rounded out the top five in a race that beat rain that ended up postponing features in three other divisions.
