JIM FALLS, Wis. (July 5) — Four-time series champion Pat Doar of New Richmond, Wis., overtook polesitter Don Copp of Brule, Wis., on the 13th lap at Eagle Valley Speedway and led the rest of the 40-lapper for his series-leading 22nd career Dart Challenge Series victory. Doar earned $2,000 for the victory on the WISSOTA-sanctioned tour.
Doar, who started outside the front row, maneuvered through lapped traffic in the second half of the race to finish ahead of Copp while fifth-starting Lance Matthees of Winona, Minn., ended up third. Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., and Ricky Weiss of St. Francois Xavier, Manitoba, rounded out the top five.
Matthees, winner of the series opener two nights earlier at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis., is tied for the points lead with Copp after three series events. The series continues with July 7-9 events at Viking Speedway in Alexandria, Minn., Madison (Minn.) Speedway and Casino Speedway in Watertown, S.D.
