Bobby Pierce took a dip in the infield pond after his victory.
What won the race: Fending off repeated early challenges from Drake Troutman and surviving a 30-minute rain delay on lap 31, pole-starting Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., led all 60 laps of Saturday's Maribel Late Model Showdown at 141 Speedway to collect the $25,000 payday on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Pierce topped Tim McCreadie by 2.211 seconds at the checkers.
Quotable: "It's very special. I really like the track," said Pierce, who celebrated with a dip in the infield pond. "Yesterday I heard a lot of drivers were not really happy with it. But I thought it was going to be a fun track. When the rain came, I thought it was going to make for an awesome feature because it got the track really tacky."

It just made it tricky for me because I was in the lead," Pierce said. ... Drake Troutman gave Pierce all he could handle early, making multiple bids for the lead before his car went up in smoke on lap 18. ... Ethan Dotson raced Tim McCreadie hard for second from laps 40-42 until jumping the cushion on lap 43 exiting turn four. He slipped to fourth after Nick Hoffman got by on lap 49. … Two cautions slowed the feature: the first on lap 18 for Troutman and the second on lap 32 for rain. ... Tristan Chamberlain briefly nosed ahead of Bobby Pierce for the unofficial race lead exiting turn two around the bottom on the initial start, but couldn’t dispatch the top-riding Pierce entering turn three. The Richmond, Ind., driver finished 12th. … Daulton Wilson finished 11th in his backup car after slowing and trailing heavy smoke in heat action. ... Nick Panitzke entered in Dustin Sorensen's No. 19 Longhorn, as Sorensen had a prior scheduling commitment. Sorensen told DirtonDirt he’ll return to tour action Monday at Ogilvie (Minn.) Raceway. … Friday's 141 action rained out. ... Dallon Murty won Thursday’s $1,500 unsanctioned warmup for his first Super Late Model victory. ...
