Bobby Pierce notched his first WoO victory since August 2025.
What won the race: Jumping to the high side early and overtaking polesitter Drake Troutman on the eighth lap, reigning series champ Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., rolled to a $12,000 victory in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series debut at Hendry County Motorsports Park. In a 40-lapper slowed by a single caution, Pierce led by as much as 5.7 seconds and took the checkers 1.381 seconds ahead of seventh-starting Ethan Dotson for his first WoO victory in six months.
Quotable: "I was pretty nervous on the (lap-36) restart (with) Dotson there on the inside," Pierce said. "Luckily I got a good exit off of (turn) two and then from there on it was just 'hit my marks, hit my marks, don't jump the cushion.' it got to the point where you had to get up on it to really get any traction because (the surface) got a black slick lane below it. So a pretty hard track to drive, but a fun track, a fun event. Huge thanks to these guys are putting this on. It's just awesome to come to a new track and win it and it's just great for us."
Key notes: Bobby Pierce's 43rd career WoO victory breaks a tie for fifth on the all-time list with Hall of Famer Billy Moyer, a three-time WoO champion. ... The 40-lapper's lone caution appeared on the 36th lap when Tyler Erb spun heading into turn one while running seventh. ... Polesitter Drake Troutman led the first seven laps and slipped back to finish fourth. ... After breaking a motor in practice Thursday at Hendry County, Cody Overton abandoned his plans for a full-time run on the WoO circuit. ... WoO competitors remain at Hendry County for a $20,000-to-win event Saturday that wraps up the Swamp Cabbage 100 weekend. ... The Hendry County Tourism Development Council sponsors the 60th annual Swamp Cabbage Festival at 10 a.m. Saturday morning in nearby LaBelle, Fla.; festivities include a float parade, an air show, live music and local food.
On the move: Ethan Dotson of Bakersfield, Calif., started seventh and finished second.
