Tyler Peterson collected a $3,000 victory at Fiesta City.
What won the race: Topping Cole Searing for the second straight night at Fiesta City Speedway, Tyler Peterson of Hickson, N.D., led the final six laps for a $3,000 victory and Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series sweep. Peterson, notching his sixth career series victory, matched Searing with his third triumph of the season.
Quotable: "That's our motto, man, never give up. It's always lapped traffic that makes the race good. I've been (touting) since the beginning of the year. It makes or breaks a race for you," Peterson said. "I was concerned about my tire. Man, I didn't know how hard we'd go in that rubber over there, but we just kept it to the floor and made the right moves in lapped traffic."
Key notes: Peterson notched his 184th career multidivision feature victory. ... In Friday's weekend opener, Peterson used a last-lap pass after series points leader Cole Searing slowed with a flat left-rear tire. … A dozen drivers completed 40 laps. ... Twenty cars were running at the finish. ... Josh Zimpel scratched from the scheduled 26-car feature.
On the move: Cory Crapser of Chippewa Falls, Wis., started 19th and finished seventh.
Winner's sponsors: Peterson’s Rocket Chassis is powered by a Corky Thomas Race Engine and carries sponsorship from Enclave, Quick-Lift by TP Fabricating, Northwest Auto Body, Fastenal, AllFab Railings & Metalworks, Powdercoat Specialists, Fox Racing Shox and Slider Shots Media.
Points chase: After Fiesta City: 1. Cole Searing (655); 2. Tyler Peterson (619); 3. Ryan Mikkelson (568); 4. Jeff Provinzino (531); 5. Shane Sabraski (528).
