Eckert's car owner mourned
Raye Vest, long-time car owner for veteran Dirt Late Model racer Rick Eckert, died Nov. 4 at his White Plains, Md., home after a lengthy illness. He was 76. Vest connected in 1995 with Eckert, who drove the familiar orange No. 24 to championships and victories including the $100,000-to-win Dream at Eldora Speedway and the Dirt Track World Championship at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Ky. — Brian McLeod
