Magnolia's Cotton Pickin' 100 pushed to Nov. 6-7

October 29, 2009, 3:36 am
From track reports

COLUMBUS, Miss. (Oct 28) — The sixth annual Southern Belle Cotton Pickin' 100 will have to wait another week at Magnolia Motor Speedway. Dismal weather forecasts forced promoters to postpone the unsanctioned $15,000-to-win event, originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, until Nov. 6-7 at the 3/8-mile oval west of Columbus.

With more than two inches of rain predicted to soak the facility during the weekend, officials decided to hope for better weather the first weekend in November, race publicist Ben Shelton said.

The entire schedule will be pushed back a week starting with practice Nov. 5, time trials and heat races on Nov. 6, and consolation races and main events on Nov. 6. Besides Super Late Models, street stocks are in action along with a combined Late Model Stock/Crate Late Model division.

A canned-food drive will be held at Magnolia. The drive is part of the Can Do Christmas sponsored by the Mississippi Radio Group, which includes MS 98, Sunny 93, Z98.5, and Southern Belle. Items can be dropped off at the Southern Belle tent behind the grandstands or at the Southern Belle trailer in the pits.
