Nowell gets rain-shortened NLMS victory at EAMS

August 3, 2009, 5:18 pm
From track reports

PHENIX CITY, Ala. (Aug. 1) — Inheriting the lead when fellow hometown driver Dewayne Johnson slipped over the turn-two banking, Terrance Nowell was out front when rain halted a National Late Model Series event at East Alabama Motor Speedway, giving Nowell the $3,000 victory. Rain stopped the race after 28 of 40 scheduled laps.

Bobby Thomas finished second followed by Skeeter Redmon, Jason Fitzgerald and Cale Simons while the polesitting Johnson was listed 12th in the final rundown. Fast qualifier Larry Harrod had a rough night after a six-car inversion for the feature. Harrod went off the track to draw an early caution and then was involved in a multicar accident that damaged the right side of his car, ending his chances.
