CLEWISTON, Fla. (Nov. 1) — Surviving an infield excursion that cost him the lead, Keith Nosbisch of Valrico, Fla., rallied to overtake Shan Smith of Dade City, Fla., on a late restart to capture the Kim Allen Memorial at Hendry County Speedway. Nosbisch pocketed $7,000 for his first victory on the first-year United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series as he became the eighth winner on the series.

Smith, one of Florida's hottest drivers, settled for second followed by Mark Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., whose third-place finish helped him cut into the points lead of series leader Johnny Collins of Jacksonville, Fla., who ran as high as fourth before sliding back on a restart and ending up sixth.

Dillon Wood of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., finished fourth and asphalt ace Jeff Choquette of Loxahatchee, Fla., made a rare dirt start and ran as high as second before finishing fifth. Polesitter Justin Choquette, a rookie on the tour, broke during one of several attempted race starts and dropped out. Jack Nosbisch Jr. led the first half of the race but spun just past the halfway mark and ended up 16th.

Keith Nosbisch was in control when he had problems trying to lap Kent Corbin. Corbin slowed exiting turn two and Nosbisch dove left to avoid him, getting over the berm and into the infield. Nosbisch hit a tractor tire and nearly came to a top before pulling back onto the track in third. Smith took command, but Nosbisch was able to get back to the top spot for the victory.

Notes: Keith Nosbisch's Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Miller Lite. ... Jordy Nipper rallied from the last row to finish ninth and earn hard charger honors. ... Ivedent Lloyd Jr. wasn't able to start the feature after having engine problems in hot laps. ... The final UDLMCS is set for Nov. 8 at East Bay Raceway Park near Tampa, Fla., a $5,000-to-win event co-sanctioned by the National Late Model Series.
