HIBBING, Minn. (July 26) — Second-year Late Model driver Kyle Peterlin grabbed a hometown track victory in the AMSOIL Late Model Series finale at Hibbing Raceway as Harry Hanson of Eveleth, Minn., wrapped up the miniseries championship. Peterlin fought off three restart challenges from Pat Doar of New Richmond, Wis., in the 35-lapper and drove away at the end when competitors filtered into a mostly single-file formation. Peterlin, who started outside the front row, picked up $2,000 for the victory in a race slowed by three cautions. Hanson, ninth-starting A.J. Diemel and Tom Waseleski Sr. rounded out the top five finishers.

Hanson ended the night holding a $5,000 check for the series championship after posting a third-place finish in the last of five series races. Jeff Broking of Grand Rapids, Minn., entered the race with the series points lead, but his 14th-place finish wasn't enough to maintain the top spot.

Notes: Peterlin had more than a straightaway lead as he entered lapped traffic, but a caution for Tim Carlson's turn-one spin bunched the field. ... The second caution appeared when Jeff Provinzino slipped off the backstretch. ... Broking spun off turn two but was restored to his spot when Steve Vesel was charged with the caution. ... Last year's series champion, Darrell Nelson, was eighth in the feature. ... Don Copp rallied from 24th to finish 10th.
