STEWART, Ohio (Aug. 24) — Josh McGuire of Grayson, Ky., returned to victory lane Friday night, earning $3,000 in the Late Model portion of Skyline Speedway’s Sarah Bond Big Three event that was held in memory of the wife of long-time Ohio Valley racing legend Ronnie Bond.

McGuire ended a month-long winless streak with his victory over fellow Grayson, Ky., driver Jackie Boggs. Rick Williams of Beckley, W.Va., was third with Travis Brookover of Kenna, W.Va., and Chris Garnes of Evans, W.Va., rounding out the top five.

Williams and Boggs shared the front row for the start of the 40-lap AMRA-sanctioned main event with Williams jumping into the early lead. But Boggs quickly blitzed the inside groove with a crossover move to take the lead.

Boggs then moved up to the middle groove where the track began to take rubber and started to pull away from the pack with Williams securely in second.

Meanwhile, McGuire struggled to get going as did much of the potent 18-car field. Boggs quickly raced into traffic and had nearly lapped the 12th-place car of Jason Montgomery when the caution flag waved on lap for a tangle between K-C Burdette and Freddie Carpenter.

Boggs led Williams for the restart followed by Brookover, McGuire, and fast qualifier Tyler Carpenter. McGuire leaped past Brookover once the race resumed, but Brookover fought back as Williams gave Boggs a brief run for the top spot.

McGuire shook Brookover on the next lap and in one swift blitz, blasted by Williams for second.

McGuire then ran down Boggs with the lead duo battling side-by-side for a couple laps before McGuire moved ahead on lap 20. McGuire stretched his lead over the remaining distance on his way to his second victory of the season at Skyline.
