MARKLEYSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 7) — Track champion Tim Senic of Elkins, W.Va., was crowned King of the Knob in claiming his first-ever victory on the Three State Flyers tour Saturday night at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex. The second-starting Senic earned $5,000 in leading every lap of the 16th annual event for his third Roaring Knob victory of the season. | Slideshow

Jamie Lathroum of Mechanicsville, Md., came from sixth to finish second while series points leader and 13th-starting Mark Pettyjohn of Milton, Del. Pettyjohn’s brother Kenny pressured Senic early before settling for fourth while Jeremy Miller of Gettysburg, Pa., rounded out the top five.

“I want to thank Kenny and Jamie for running me clean,” Senic said in victory lane. “The caution coming out when it did was fortunate for me, especially with the run Kenny had. After breaking Monday (in NDRL-sanctioned action at Roaring Knob), it is good to rebound and get a victory here. I can’t thank my crew enough.”

Senic started outside the front row alongside Jared Hawkins of Fairmont, W.Va., for the 55-lap feature with Senic quickly taking control over Austin Hubbard of Seaford, Del. Hubbard and Hawkins spun in turn four on the sixth lap, moving Kenny Pettyjohn to second.

For the next 34 laps, Pettyjohn kept the heat on Senic, and appeared to take the lead on lap 40. But Scott Rhodes of Somerset, Pa., slowed to draw a caution resetting the lineup with Senic out front.

Lathroum moved up to challenge next, working the high side to take second from Pettyjohn on lap 46. He couldn’t get close enough to Senic to make a serious challenge in the final laps.
