Shank earns $2,500 at Medford's Bud Cup 100

MEDFORD, Ore. (Sept. 27) — Jeremy Shank of Salem, Ore., took command of the Roger Lorenzini Sr. Memorial Bud Cup 100 on the 63rd lap at Southern Oregon and led the rest of the way for his second career victory on the Hoosier I-5 Challenge Series. The 10th-starting Shank, whose previous series victory came two years ago, earned $2,500 for the 100-lap triumph.

Sixth-starting Rob Mayea of Bend, Ore., finished second with Mark Carroll of Redmond, Wash., third in the longest series race. Justin Dittman of Lincoln City, Ore., was fourth and 2001 series champion Russ Sell of Brownsville, Ore., rounded out the top five. Jeremy Richey started outside the front row and led 61 laps before Trevor Glaser took command for a single lap. Shank went ahead on lap 63 and led the rest of the way at the 3/10-mile oval.

With his second-place finish, Mayea clinched his second series championship and ended the three-year title run of Glaser. Mayea also won the championship in 2004.
