NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series

SENOIA, Ga. (May 21) – Points leader Dan Breuer of Troutman, N.C., scored his second NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series victory of the season Saturday night in the Spring Nationals 50 at Senoia Raceway.

Breuer started third and moved by his teammate Steve Cooke of Mt. Airy, N.C., for the lead on lap three and never looked back in racing to a $2,500 payday at the 3/8-mile racetrack. Cooke finished second to give the AES Racing Team a one-two finish. | Slideshow

“Steve’s car was just a little bit tighter than my car, and he pushed up just enough in turn four to give me an opening on the bottom of the track to take the lead,” Breuer said of the lap-three pass. “This one-two finish really says a lot about the AES Racing Team. We had a great race on a great track in front of some great fans.”

The pole-starting Cooke took the lead on the start of the race, while Breuer drove underneath Chase Edge of Lafayette, Ala., in turns one and two to grab the second spot.

On lap three, Cooke’s car pushed up the banking in turn four, opening the door for Breuer the get under his teammate for the lead. Breuer took advantage of the opportunity and pulled ahead.

After surviving multiple restarts throughout the race, a caution with four laps remaining gave Cooke one final shot at Breuer, but Breuer held on to score the victory.

Behind Cooke, Edge finished third with two-time series champion David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, Tenn., fourth and Jake Teague of Oliver Springs, Tenn., fifth.
