BUSTI, N.Y. (Aug. 22) — Rob Blair of Titusville, Pa., earned $10,000 for a victory in Stateline Speedway's Lynn Seamens Memorial, an unsanctioned event twice-postponed by rain. Blair started on the pole and led all 40 laps, crossing the finish line ahead of fellow front-row starter Mike Knight of Ripley, N.Y., despite facing lapped traffic the final stretch of the race.

Scott Johnson of Wattsburg, Pa., finished third while Ron Davies of Warren, Pa., and John Lobb of Frewsburg, N.Y., rounded out the top five in the richest race in Stateline's history. The race was marred by a lap-nine caution for a major backstretch scramble involving several cars that knocked Matt Urban, Wally Fox, Jason Dupont and Andy Boozel out of the race.

Notes: Blair's Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Specialty Products, Bossard's Auto Parts, Maloney Tool & Mold, Armstrong Lumber, Chelby's Tanning & Hair Garage and Moody & Son Welding. ... Runner-up Mike Knight was back in action after a serious accident in the previous Sunday's Ontario Dirt Late Model tour event at Cornwall (Ontario) Motor Speedway, where his car slammed the turn-four wall. He was treated for a slight concussion and minor neck injury that turned out to be not as serious as Knight initially thought. ... The race was previously rained out on July 11 and Aug. 8. ... Boom Briggs briefly lost control between turns three and four on the 14th lap, collecting Rod Maloy. ... Other cautions were for a Pete Alspaugh spin and for Doug Eck, who slapped the wall and left Briggs with nowhere to go. ... Doug Ricotta of Warsaw, N.Y., held the third spot much of the race but slipped back to finish ninth. ... Among drivers failing to make the main event: Greg Oakes, Bump Hedman, Rich Gardner, Merle Terry, Dennis Lunger, George LaBarbera and Bobby Powell. ... Stateline hosts a $4,000-to-win event on Sept. 5 sponsored by Finn's Auto, Lias American Race Tire and Magnum Grafx.
