October 5, 2008, 1:56 pm
From track and team reports

LOXLEY, Ala. (Oct. 4) — David Breazeale of Four Corners, Miss., raced to a $3,000 victory in the first Mississippi State Championship Challenge race at Deep South Speedway in more than two years. In notching his 14th career MSCC victory, the polesitting Breazeale led all the way, averting disaster when he struck debris on the track with five laps remaining and finished on a deflating tire. The winner outran fellow front-row starter Scott Slay of Clinton, Miss., along with Tennessee invaders Vic Hill and Rick Rogers. Hill ended up second followed by Slay, Rogers and series points David Ashley of Zachary, La., who started in the fifth row alongside Rogers.

MSCC @ Deep South: (1) David Breazeale, (2) Vic Hill, (3) Scott Slay, (4) Rick Rogers, (5) David Ashley, (6) Randy Little, (7) James Ussery, (8) Marlon Wild, (9) James Ward, (10) Scott Creel, (11) Wade Cole, (12) Mickey Trosclair Jr., (13) Chad Thrash, (14) Bub McCool, (15) Chris Hoomes, (16) Devin Jones, (17) Steve Bryan, (18) David Smith, (19) Jeremy Broadus, (20) Frank Wilson, (21) Mickey Trosclair, (22) Chris Smith. Fast qualifier (among 22 cars): Breazeale.

Correction: In an earlier version of this story, Scott Slay's hometown was incorrect; he's from Clinton, Miss.
