Fennewald led 30 laps for his seventh 2020 victory. ... "The track was really good tonight," Fennewald said. "Congratulations to Cole (Henson) on the (ULMA) championship. We fell short on the track and the ULMA championship, but we won a lot of races this year. I'm pretty happy about that."

Jones led all but two laps. ... Chad Richwine was running second late, but clipped an infield tire barrier on the 22nd lap and retired. ... "I didn't have any more, I had it on the floor," Jones said of the final laps. "If they're gonna get me they're gonna have to get me because I had her wide open. She had no more."

Fennewald did all he could to repeat the track title, but Henson's runner-up finish secured his first crown. ... "I'm surprised my hair is not gray because I've been so stressed out this week," Henson said. "It's been an unbelievable season. I know we didn't get our win yet. We still have more (non-points) races to go. We were consistent all year and that's what it's all about.”

Fennewald went from third-to-first after a restart with four laps remaining and held off Todd Shute for the $1,000 prize. ... "I said I had to win tonight and Cole had to finish fourth or worse," Fennewald said of the track title chase. "I had to win the last two nights, I got to win out. You know what? I've gotta do whatever I gotta do to win races."

Fennewald regained the lead from Henson on the last-lap, the seventh lead change in 10 laps. ... "We've been off about the last five weeks. We've been horrible," Fennewald said. "We've struggled with some shock and spring issues and the driveshaft. We had the fire (in week one). I don't think we're gonna win the points this year, but we're gonna win the rest of the races."

The 20-year-old Jefferson City, Mo., racer beat Kaeden Cornell by a length for his first Wheatland victory. ...  "Last week I was pretty frustrated. I was ready to park it for a couple of weeks," Cox said. "I felt like we could have won the last two or three weeks, but everything fell our way tonight and it was awesome."

Cornell led all 20 laps. ... "It got a little dicey there in lapped traffic," Cornell said. "I didn't really know where to go because I hadn't run anywhere but the bottom."

Dylan Hoover led 14 laps when he slowed with mechanical problems. ... That handed the lead to Kaeden Cornell, who also departed after leading a single lap. ... Looney led the rest of the way. ... "It was a fast track. I just tried to stay patient and maybe those guys would mess up in front of me and sneak in there and get the win," Looney said. "It worked out for us tonight."

Winning on the last lap, Walker started fourth and won for the second time in three weeks. ... Walker overtook Russell after a caution with two laps remaining.

Shute's car had a broken low gear. ... "It won't take off my itself. But once I get going and into high gear, it's fine. ... I know old Fennewald was back there. I felt like my tires were going away at the end. I'm just glad to be here."

Walker's first Wheatland feature win came in less than six minutes in a caution-free affair. ... Looney was two lengths behind in second in the 20-lapper. ... "You can't beat a Scott Bailey powerplant," Walker said. "I only saw (Looney) the one time there. I thought, 'We're either gonna crash or win this deal  because we weren't gonna pussyfoot in there again.' ”

Fennewald overtook Cornell on the last lap. ... "This track's different tonight and we had to start so far back," the eighth-starting Fennewald said. "I just said everybody's gonna be on the bottom and realized I was gonna have to get up on the top and just rim-ride."

Fennewald, whose car was damaged by fire while racing the previous week, dominated to win by 5.29 seconds. ... Opening week winner Kaeden Cornell lost fire on parade laps and rallied from the tail of the 11-car field for fourth.

Cornell led all 20 laps. ... Three-time and reigning track champ Johnny Fennewald was second on the 12th lap when his car ignited into flames. He stopped in turn two and climbed out safely before crews doused the fire.
