Williams captures Vernon Harris Memorial

BUDDS CREEK, Md. (Oct. 19-20) — David Williams of Avenue, Md., led the final seven laps of the Vernon Harris Memorial at Potomac Speedway to earn $5,000. Ricky Elliott of Seaford, Del., led the first 44 laps of the 51-lapper before fading to fourth. | Slideshow

Roy Deese Jr. of Laurel, Md.,, who made a last-ditch charge in the low groove on the final lap, settled for second with Jeremy Miller of Gettysburg finishing third in the track's final Super Late Model event of the season. Elliott was fourth followed by polesitter Andy Anderson of Martinsburg, W.Va.

Bo Feathers started with a track provisional and ended up 11th in the No. D1 machine. Among drivers failing to transfer to the feature event: Ronnie DeHaven Jr., Austin Hubbard, Ben Bowie and Roland Mann. The unsanctioned event drew 41 cars.
