Fastrak Northeast Series

FRANKLIN, Pa. (Sept. 5-6) — Jim Frank of Jamestown, N.Y., was awarded a Fastrak Northeast touring victory at Tri-City Speedway after apparent flag-to-flag winner Mike Blose of Dayton, Pa., was disqualified. Series officials ruled Blose used non-GM parts valve locks in his crate engine.

The caution-free 30-lapper ended with a frontstretch melee at the finish as the top eight cars ran in a tight pack. While Blose crossed the line first, Mike Pegher Jr. tried to get under Frank exiting turn four. Pegher made contact, but Frank, Blair and Carl McKinney were able to continue while Pegher collected David Scott with Scott's car going airborne down the frontstretch, limping across the finish line in fifth. Scott was moved up to fourth following Blose's disqualification, retaining his series points lead.

Notes: Frank is sponsored by Chub Frank Racing, West End Auto Parts, Tom's Auto Repair and Slavic Signs. ... The event was on the undercard of World of Outlaws Late Model Series action. ... The event drew a series-high 43 cars. ... Heat victories were worth $100. ... Kyle Zimmerman and Mike Anderson Jr. were disqualified from prelims for unsportsmanlike conduct. ... Next up for Fastrak Northeast competitors is a Sept. 12 event at Mercer (Pa.) Raceway Park.
