Franklin earns $10,000 at Screven

SYLVANIA, Ga. (Sept. 15) — Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., topped a strong field of 41 O’Reilly Southern All Star and Southern All Star East competitors to capture the $10,000 Georgia Outlaw State Championship at Screven Motor Speedway. Franklin overtook early race leader and polesitter Ivedent Lloyd on lap 16 and then avoided a myriad of cautions and lapped cars to win the 60-lapper. | Slideshow

Franklin moved into the lead after a side-by-side battle, just before a lap-17 caution for Bryan Sumner's spin. Franklin pulled away on a long green-flag run and again after the final caution appeared just past the halfway point for Sumner's blown engine. G.R. Smith moved up to finish second with Lloyd, the Southern All Star points leader, third. Casey Roberts and Basey rounded out the top five.
